Profile

I completed three rotations with JTEKT Inc. in Vonore, TN. I worked with a small team to accurately price and improve steering gears for vehicles. I oversaw a project that studied the costs of service gears and worked with branches across the US to re-price these gears.

I was a mechanical engineering major at the time of my co-op, and I wanted to gain a deeper knowledge of the field. I was able to not only better understand the engineering aspects, but also the business side of the company as well.

My time at JTEKT helped me develop my public speaking skills, which was something I initially struggled with. I was able to present to my team and the Vice President of the company every Friday, which helped me overcome a lot of my anxieties.

My co-op helped me realize what profession I would really like to pursue after college. I feel more confident and prepared to take on the academics required to meet that goal, since returning from JTEKT.

The lessons and friends you will make on your co-op assignment are valuable and irreplaceable. Choosing a co-op over an internship allows you to stay with a company for a longer period of time. Therefore, you will build deeper relationships and will be able to see your projects begin, develop and finish.

I enjoy rock climbing, camping and anything outdoors. I spend my quiet time listening to or playing music. I'm really social so I love hanging with my friends on weekends.

I am excited to help others find internships and co-ops, so they can further their academic and professional career.
