Ambassador Profile

From: Sharps Chapel, TN

I worked four rotations with DENSO Manufacturing, in Maryville, TN in the body electronics division as a production engineer. During that time, I was involved with several projects all centered around production reliability and quality improvement. I have also worked one rotation with ExxonMobil in Beaumont, TX most recently. I worked in the machinery engineering group in an oil refinery and chemical plant. My projects included improving pump reliability throughout the entire Beaumont complex.

I decided to co-op after my sophomore year as I wanted to make some money and take a break from class. I also wanted to gain experience as a mechanical engineer to see if I wanted to stay with this major. In my time as a co-op, I would say my most significant achievement was improving my communication and collaboration skills in an office setting.

I now effectively have two years of experience as an engineer in the workplace. I have worked with and learned from several talented engineers and have greatly improved both my technical skills, as well as my practical problem-solving

ave learned a lot more about being an effective engineer by way of co-ops rather than classwork. My co-op experience has also got me on track to multiple full time job offers after I graduate. I strongly believe in the co-op program here, and I have seen first-hand how beneficial adding work experience is to an engineering education.

I enjoy playing guitar, and being on the lake as time permits.
